It is vital that our young people have many opportunities every day to try to do things for themselves. Learning to do something independently can help give your young person the confidence to do other things. Furthermore, being able to complete day-to-day activities at home is key to preparing the skills required for future employment. A reward system can help motivate your child to try new tasks.

Homeworking Activities:
- Make your bed
- Tidy your bedroom
- Hoover, mop or dust a room in the house house
- Wipe kitchen and dining surfaces with a damp cloth
- Identify which clothes are clean and which are dirty
- Put your dirty laundry in the laundry bin
- Load, program and unload the washing/drying machine
- Iron a t-shirt
- Fold the laundry and pair the socks
- Load, program and unload the dishwasher
- Do the washing up and drying up after a meal
- Lay the table for a family meal
