Creative subjects
All students access a rich and varied curriculum, in alignment with National curriculum subject areas. Focus is also placed on developing students' creative and exploratory skills as well as teaching them different ways to express themselves.
In primary, the students engage in weekly Art, Music and Food Technology lessons. These are closely related to the topic cycle and learning is delivered through tactile, sensory experiences. The lessons are designed to encourage students to express their preferences, indicate choices and develop ownership of their learning.
Providing cultural capital is an integral part of the school's curriculum. Students participate in a variety of cultural festivities reflecting the diverse school community throughout the year. Learning about different faiths and beliefs is delivered through creative subjects with the aim of fostering tolerance and appreciation as well as to promote British values. Some fantastic examples of these are celebrating Black history month, Diwali, Eid and Christmas, to name a few. There is an annual Christmas and Easter production with students performing at the local church for their families as well as visiting other places of worship at different times of the year.
