Why did you want to become a Governor at Oaklands School? |
This position will provide an opportunity for my personal development, as I will learn important skills such as budgeting, and communication in the workplace. I will be able to learn from previous experience how to improve the infrastructure of schools and workplaces in general to ultimately benefit the school community. Using my background in special education schooling, I can help improve the school from first-hand experience. |
Professional Background |
I graduated as a Professional educator, and I was employed for 7 years in a Mainstream and EYFS nursery, I have 2 years of experience in working as a intercultural linguistic mediator. Since I have moved to the UK I have been working in SEN school for Autism and Moderate learning disabilities. |
What skills do you bring to the role? |
I have a degree in Education as Professional educator, and I believe I can help in sections, like enriching activities, Teaching, behaviour management and helping the children here become better functioning adults who will be able to operate well in the adult world. Furthermore, I can help in the School Development plan, as I currently work in another special needs school, where I can bring my experience to the table. By utilising my degree in Business and management, I can help with financial decisions, and as my son attends the school, I am able to overview and see what really needs to improve in the school. Additionally I believe my aspiration to succeed as a School Governor will be aided by my strong will power, ambitious energy and focused lie in my determination to progress further in my career, and I will use these strong assets of mine to bring great long-lasting change to Oaklands that will ameliorate the lives of the school community. |

Why did you want to become a Governor at Oaklands School? |
I was first introduced to Oaklands School as an occupational therapist through the NHS, and applied for my permanent role after seeing their care and approach to the students. I wanted to become a Governor so that I could continue to contribute to the school’s vision, using my skills as an occupational therapist to further benefit our students, staff, and parents. I would also like to gain further insight into the school so to allow our therapy team to continue to support the school to the best of our abilities. |
Professional Background |
Specialist Occupational Therapist, SI Qualification Oaklands Therapy Team Coordinator |
What skills do you bring to the role? |
I am passionate about helping students with additional needs and believe that all our students have the right to be treated with dignity and respect. From the time I first started working at Oaklands School as an NHS occupational therapist, I loved their approach to increasing their student’s independence, as well as their views that all students needed to be treated as unique individuals. As one of the first in-house therapists within the school, I assisted in establishing the current therapy team and was appointed as the therapy team coordinator at the beginning of 2023. I bring skills as both an occupational therapist and therapy team coordinator. These include:
